The Adidas brand was launched in Germany in 1949. The brand name is an acronym of its founder's name, Adolf "Adi" Dassler, brother of Rudolf Dassler, who was in turn the founder of Puma. Adidas is recognized both by the iconic "three band" and the clover logos. The brand of global renown owes most of its success to the profitable sponsorship agreements with football clubs worldwide. Inspired by football, running or tennis shoes, such as the Stan Smith model designed in 1971 for the famous US tennis player, Adidas shoes are true icons of style today, and combine comfort and high performance.
